Patrick James McHale, Age:51

Patrick James McHale was born August 3rd, 1970 in the Logan Square area of Chicago, IL. It was here where he met the love of his life, Harriet McHale, who wedded in 2010, before becoming residents of Huntsville, TX. He is survived by Harriet McHale (Brewster), daughter Ezri McHale, mother Pauline Brownell, sister Faith McHale (niece, Hope Sippel), step-father Clarence Hawkins and grandparents Frances Valdivia (living) and Marshall Valdivia (deceased).

Although he moved from the brutal Chicago winter to the warm Texas weather, he made sure to continue spreading the Christmas spirit through his passion of being a professional Santa. His determination and tenacity for furthering his education earned him his Associate of Arts degree from Lone Star College in Texas. Patrick believed in the many life lessons that he learned, and taught, during his involvement with the Boy Scouts of America. So much so that his daughter Ezri decided to join. If the word camping was mentioned, he was the first one to pack up the tent and head outdoors. Getting him back in, from under the stars, was no easy task.

He was by all definitions a coach. Certified in CPR and first aid training, he taught swimming lessons, youth sports, rock climbing and more. This was especially apparent during his long-term career with the YMCA. He had many hobbies, but coaching came to him so naturally. With his coaching expertise, his favorite professional sports teams, Da Bears and Chicago Cubs, would have been champions ten times over.

His discipline to accomplish all of these goals and more were an outcome of his time with the ROTC and the Army.

These are the things that Patrick would want everyone to know and remember.

A transplant recipient himself and a transplant Olympian, Patrick was an avid believer in the power of donation, science and research. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a kidney foundation, register for organ donation, or help in the funding of a scholarship for his daughter's future education (). Through these gifts, the spirit of a great man will continue.
