Roger John Swiatek, Age:79

Roger J. Swiatek, beloved father of Jonathan and loving brother of Nadine Sweeney, died on Wednesday, February 16th after suffering complications of a home accident. A longtime resident of Park Ridge, Roger was born in Chicago in 1942, and trained as a medical technologist before entering a career in sales, operating his own wholesale business in Chicago’s Merchandise Mart, and later selling specialist audio equipment. Roger was a licensed pilot, and enjoyed many hobbies, including fishing, Kayaking, golf, fine wines and especially music. Predeceased by his parents, John W. and Valentine L. (Czapski) Swiatek, Roger leaves behind his son, Jonathan and sister Nadine and many relatives, friends and business associates who will miss his kindness and larger-than-life personality. His family is especially grateful for the tireless care given Roger by the staff at Cook County Stroger Hospital during his five weeks in the ICU Burn Unit. Memorial visitation will be March 19, 2022, from 9:30 am to 11:30 am at Olson Burke/Sullivan Funeral and Cremation Center, 6467 N Northwest Hwy Chicago followed by a Memorial Mass at 12:00 noon at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Mission, 9711 W. Devon Ave. Rosemont, IL 60018. Entombment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made in Roger’s name to the Salvation Army or Misericordia Heart of Mercy, 6300 N Ridge Chicago, IL 60660.
