Gilberto Silva Muñiz, 82, finished the good race to be with the Lord the night of March 2, 2022 at the Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. Gilberto was born on January 18, 1940 in San Luis Potosí, S.L.P, México where he grew up and was a champion cyclist (“la ardillita”), a swimmer and great athlete. He is preceded in death by his parents Modesto and Guadalupe and his three siblings Luis, Elvira and Teresa. He is survived by his loving wife Genoveva Martha and his beloved children José Carlos (Mariela), Sergio Israel (Deisi) and Araceli (Denny) and his adoring grandchildren; Dalia (Mariano) and baby to be, Mauricio, Denise, Desirée, Fabrizio, Sergio, Melissa, Martina and Camila. Gilberto was a hardworking, kind and gentle soul, always willing to give of himself to those around him, especially those in need. To have known him was to love him. May God hold him in His loving arms.
