Sue Ann Whitlock, Age:70

Sue Ann (Schallert) Whitlock of Chicago,IL formerly of Effingham, IL passed away on April 3, 2022 at the age of 70.


 

A funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham, IL on April 19th at 10:30 a.m.  Mass will be followed by interment at Maplewood Cemetery in St. Elmo, IL.  


 

Sue Ann was the first child of Bernard and Rosanna (Boos) Schallert.  She was born on November 4, 1951 in Portageville, MO.  She is survived by her mother and four siblings: Anthony (Melinda Means) Schallert of Greensboro, NC; Steven (Kathy) Schallert of Effingham, IL; Ben (Mari Grupe) Schallert of Effingham, IL; Katie (Jim) Hetrick of Dearborn, MI.  Sue Ann has two children: son August Whitlock of Bloomington, IL and daughter Amanda (Mark Beatty) Whitlock of Chicago, IL.  Sue Ann will be interred with Charles “Bill” Medlin, who preceded her in death in 2011.


 

Sue Ann graduated from Southern Illinois University in 1971 with an Associates degree and received her Bachelor’s degree from Eastern Illinois University in 1994. She worked for Stevens Industries in Teutopolis from 1976 to 1985, Butler/Lester building company in Charleston from 1985 to 2007 and from 2007 to retirement for Landmark Structures in Altamont.


 

Sue Ann donated many hours with the Cub Scouting and Boy Scouting programs. She also donated time to Sacred Heart Church flea markets and rummage sales and served as an usher, choir member and SHCCW member and officer. Her hobbies were gardening, playing tennis, painting, knitting and cooking.


 

In lieu of flowers, Sue Ann hoped that donations would be made to Sacred Heart School, 407 S. Henrietta St., Effingham, IL 62401 or to St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Food Pantry, 6200 W. Ardmore, Chicago, IL 60646.
