José R. Rumbaut, 58, of Park Ridge, IL, passed away June 25, 2022 after a battle with lung disease.

José was born on May 25, 1964 in Cienfuegos, Cuba to José “Pepe” and Raquel (Padron) Rumbaut. After leaving Cuba in 1970, his family spent four years in Spain before coming to the United States and making Chicago their home. He was preceded in death by his mother, Raquel (Padron) Rumbaut in March 2011, Tia Betina (Tata) Perez-Borroto May 2021 and Tio Omel Perez-Borroto in June 2021. José is survived by his wife, Julie (Flores) Rumbaut, son Alec (Ashley) Rumbaut, daughters Madeline “Maddy” and Grace Rumbaut, his father José (María Teresa) Rumbaut, sister Belkis Rumbaut, Tia’s Daisy Rumbaut, Hilda Novo, Rosario Losa, cousins Susana, Max, and Alie DeFrancesco, Alejandro (Vanessa) Ubierna, sister-in -law Erin (Ron) Hall and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

A caring and devoted father, incredible husband, and outstanding friend, he always saw the best in everyone and would drop everything to help others. He was an inquisitive, creative problem solver who refused to give up no matter how challenging the problem he faced. He was an avid motorcyclist and loved all things mechanical. Starting from a young age, he would take his toys apart to find out how they worked and was passionate about his projects, the more complicated the better. He brought joy into any situation and would light up a room and make friends with anyone. He measured his wealth by the love of his family and many friends.

He loved his job and enjoyed his co-workers. He lived a good life. Words will never be enough to describe how much we will miss him and how much we love him.

The visitation is Wednesday, June 29th from 4-7pm at Olson, Burke-Sullivan Funeral & Cremation Center, 6467 N Northwest Hwy, Chicago, IL 60631.
