Roseanne J. Christiansen, Age:93

Roseanne Christiansen was born in Chicago to the late Jane (nee Frain) and Joseph Cabon.  She grew up on the eastside with her immediate family surrounded by her grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins all nearby.  She graduated from Bowen High School and really enjoyed being in the band.

Her first job after graduation was with the phone company downtown.  This created a love within her for the hustle and bustle of the busy ‘loop’ area.  After taking time off to raise their family, she became an administrative assistant at the Illinois State Medical Society where she would stay until her retirement.  Even in retirement, she enjoyed going downtown.

Roseanne and Wilfred (known to his family and friends as Chris) were married following World War II.  Their first home was in the Hyde Park area where they enjoyed traveling and enjoying the sights and sounds of Chicago especially the sporting teams and great restaurants.  When their family began to grow, they moved to the Victory Heights area.  They loved raising their children in their community of friends on Racine St. on the far south side.  Roseanne would become involved with PTA, Camp Fire Girls and joined a committee that fought to get a grade school for this community.  Eventually, they moved to Matteson.  She relished all the libraries in the area which satisfied her love of reading.

From an early age, Roseanne loved to read.  She was always fond of a good crossword puzzle or game show, any Chicago sporting team and enjoyed a good pizza.  Nothing would bring joy to her as much as news of how her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family were doing.

Roseanne is survived by her children, Nancy (Russell) Hollander, Marc, and John (Mercedes); grandchildren, Danny (Geeta Uhl) Hollander, Steve (Sarah Fresen) Hollander, Jason (Allison) Christiansen and Jessica (Joel) Dodge; her Great Grandchildren, Kishan and Nikhil; her sister, Margaret (late Silvio) Inglese; and many cousins and friends.  Per Roseanne’s wishes, private services were held.
