James Noble, Age:92

James W. Noble of Park Ridge,Illinois passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 10.

 

He was the beloved husband of Jan, his wife of 72 years; loving father of Cathy (Gary) Robert, Brent (Nancy) Noble, Leslie (James) Kelly; proud grandfather of Grant Robert, Kristin and Matthew Kelly; dear brother of Ray (Beverly) Noble; and fond uncle and friend to many.

 

He was born on October 11, 1929 in St. Louis, Missouri, attended the University of Arkansas on a football scholarship, transferred to St. Louis University where he graduated with a business degree. He served in the Air Force as a fighter pilot during the Korean War, was in the Air National Guard for 30 years and retired as a Lt. Colonel.  He was a pilot for United Airlines and retired in 1995 after 30 years with the company.  He was a member of the Airline Pilots Association, Retired Pilots Association, American Legion, North Shore Corvette Club, Columbia and Winthrop Harbor Yacht Club and was a Park Commissioner for the Park Ridge Park District from 1975 to 1977.

 

He had many interests and one of his favorites was sailing on Lake Michigan for pleasure and racing and competed in the Chicago to Mackinac race for many years. He loved to travel and with Jan, visited 60 countries and all 7 continents. He enjoyed taking cruises with his family and a memorable one was when he and Jan took a 4-month world cruise. He liked to play tennis, ski, play bridge, drive his Corvette, watch football, rugby and auto races and most of all enjoyed spending time with his family.

 

Private funeral services were held.
