Frank X Ploetz, Age:90

Frank was born October 30, 1928 in Czechoslovakia.  He has one brother and two sisters.  Frank was the son of a tailor. Before leaving Germany, Frank worked as a blacksmith. His favorite part of the job was making horseshoes and shoeing the horses.  He often said “the wilder the horse, the more fun it was.”

In January of 1950, Frank arrived in Los Angeles to start a new chapter of his life. He lived with an aunt, uncle and cousins and worked as a sheet metal worker.  In 1952, Frank was drafted into the United States Army where he served in Japan as a Radar Technical Sergeant.  Frank made his American citizenship on the vessel transporting him to his post in Yokohama.  Following his tour of service in Japan, Frank was honorably discharged from active duty in 1954. 

After discharge, he came to Chicago to visit friends who and settled here earlier and Frank decided to make Chicago his home.  It was at this time Frank began is career as a carpenter.  He eventually became a proud member of the Carpenters Union Local 1.

Frank met Liselotte in 1955 and they married on June 29, 1957.  Together, they raised three children, Barbara, Thomas, and Michael.

Frank was a loving husband and father and always worked hard to provide for his family.  Frank was also a loving father–in-law, grandfather and most recently a great grandfather.

In the early morning hours of May 23, 2019 the angels in heaven called Frank home.  He fought a short but tough battle followed by a peaceful passing while surrounded by his entire family. Frank was a kind and gentle man.  He was loved by many and will truly be missed by all.

Visitation will held on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at Olson Burke/Sullivan Funeral & Cremation Center, 6471 N. Northwest Highway, Chicago, IL 60631 from 4 pm to 8 pm.  Services will be held Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at 11am at Saint Monica’s Church, 5136 N. Nottingham Ave., Chicago, IL 60656.  Internment to follow at Saint Adalbert Catholic Cemetery, Niles, IL.

I remember uncle Frank as kind and always smiling. I met him the first time when he, Tante Liese and Barbara came home to Furth I'm Wald for a visit. Praying for his soul and sending love and prayers to his family.
