Carl S Canova, Age:95

Carl S. Canova was called to his eternal reward on Wednesday, March 14th 2018 in the presence of his family. He was a 95 year-old World War II veteran. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Dolores of almost 63 years; his only daughter Mary Cannata (the late Joseph), his three sons Timothy, Rev. James, and Michael (Jodie); his loving grandchildren Bethany, Jacklyn, Annamarie, Michael, and Olivia; his loving great grandchildren, Jackson and Emelia, and several nieces and nephews.

Carl was a hardworking, conscientious, and dependable employee of Bell & Howell Industries in Lincolnwood, Illinois for 37 years as a technician in the Engineering Department.  Carl was an avid Chicago sports fan. His highpoint was in 2005 when the White Sox won the World Series.

Carl saw considerable action in the European campaign of World War II as an army medic. Although he travelled some in retirement, he nevertheless lived his entire life in the City of Chicago proper. He loved his family and always put them first by making sacrifices for them at his own personal expense. He provided a stable and loving home life for his family after growing up in hardship during the Depression era. He truly enjoyed playing with his grandchildren and loved them dearly!

He was preceded in death by his parents George and Margaret, his two brothers Vincent and Joseph, his two sisters Margaret and Catherine, his nephew Nick Jr., and his son-in-law Joseph.

Carl was a good man and a Catholic in good standing; he was a parishioner of St Edward’s Parish in Chicago for many years and later belonged to St. Techla’s Parish in Chicago. He will be greatly missed by his grieving family!

Mass will be at St. Juliana Parish in Chicago on Monday,  March 19th at 12  noon, with Rev. James Wallace officiating. There will be a viewing from 11am. Interment will be private!

Condolences
