Jimmy Louis Sorensen, Age:89

Jimmy Louis Sorensen, 89, of Wood Dale died April 23, 2017. He was born in
Chicago, son of John and Jensine Sorensen. He was educated in the Chicago public
schools and attended DePaul University where he received his MBA in Accounting
and Dana College in Blair Nebraska receiving his Music degree.
In 1954 he was married to Esther Sorensen. They have four children.
Mr. Sorensen was a retired Partner of Ernst & Young. Mr. Sorensen received the
Danish Order of Danabro for his service to the Chicago Danish community. Jim
served as President of Lutheran General Hospital’s Board of Directors, President
of The Danish Home of Chicago, and also served on multiple boards and
committees.
He leaves his beloved wife Esther; his daughter Nancy (John) of Carol Stream; his
son Mark (Mary) of Novi, MI; daughter Karen (Al) of Warrenville; and daughter
Ruth (Paul) of Virginia Dale, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents John and
Jensine and brother John. Jim was a loving Grandfather of 10 grandchildren and a
proud Great-Grandfather.
A Memorial Visitation will be held at the Edison Park Evangelical Lutheran Church,
6626 N. Oliphant Ave., Chicago, IL 60631 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30a.m. on April 29, 2017.
A Memorial Service will be at 10:30 a.m. concluding with military honors.
Memorial gifts in Jimmy Sorensens’ memory can be made to the Danish Home of
Chicago, 5656 N. Newcastle, Chicago, IL 60631
Arrangements are being handled by the Olson Burke/Sullivan Funeral and Cremation Center.

Dad, I will miss you greatly. You left a tremendous legacy and set an example on how to live a Godly life, love your wife and family, give of yourself and time and you were always humble through everything you did. Your family and friends had a great gathering this past Saturday! You were honored and remembered with love. We'll all miss you!
