June Behnke passed away peacefully on November 19, 2023.  She was the daughter of the late Algot and Cecelia Bremer.  She is survived by her brother, Robert (Maudie) Bremer.  In her later years she was loved and supported by the late Al Kroll and the Lindermuth family.  

June was born and raised on the northwest side of Chicago and lived her entire life there.  June graduated from Carl Schurz High Scholl and became an executive secretary at Dahlstrom Machine Company, a position she held until retirement.  In the early 1950s June entered and won several beauty contests, including being runner up to Miss Chicago in 1952.  As a result, she was a member of the Queen's Court and earned a trip to Hollywood where she met several movie stars, including Robert Mitchum.  In 1953, she married Rudy Behnke, a World War II Marine.  They were married 47 years before he passed away in 2000.

June is remembered by many as a kind and gentle person.  She had many good friends and kept in contact regularly with her high school sorority sisters for 70 years.  She loved animals and always had a pet cat or dog.  

Per her wishes, private family services will be held.  Interment will be at Acacia cemetery in Chicago.
