Jeannette Mary Alice Daly, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, wife, cousin, aunt, and friend, passed away on Friday, June 9, 2023.. 

Jeannette was born in Boston, MA, on September 25, 1936. Raised in Chicago, she spent her early years horseback riding and working at her parents hot dog stand (Bill & Lill’s) with her sister, Edna Mae. In 1957, she became a mother with the birth of her son William. In 1965 she was blessed with another son, Robert (Bobby). 

In the 70’s, Jeannette entered nursing and worked at Ravenswood Hospital where she met the love of her life, Eddie. They were married on December 6, 1975. In 1977 she became a mom again with the birth of her daughter, Margaret (Maggie). Not long after, she began working at Danio Hall, a health care wing at the Immaculate Conception Passionist Monastery. Jeannette loved her work and grew close to the priests she cared for. Many gave her rosaries, which she kept all these years. 

Jeannette loved bowling, playing cards, and pizza almost as much as she loved her family and friends. She cared for people with a passion. She was everyone’s mom and she was our biggest cheerleader. She loved unconditionally and was compassionate, independent, and feisty until the very end.

She was the one and only Ma Daly. 

She will be dearly missed by her son Robert Daly (MaryJo), daughter Margaret Daly Skogsbakken (Kristian), stepson Michael Daly, grandchildren Crystal Daly, Lauren Daly, Alice Skogsbakken and Claire Skogsbakken, great grandchildren Noah Diaz, Riley Diaz, and Bella Diaz, and her many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will also be missed by her good friends and neighbors, including Melba, Helga & Nancy. 

Jeannette was preceded in death by her husband Edward (Eddie) Joseph Daly; sister Edna Mae Cermak; and parents Lillian Gould (nee Gaouette) and William Gould; and many dear friends and relatives.  

We will celebrate Jeannette’s life on Saturday, June 24, 2023, beginning at Immaculate Conception Church (7211 W. Talcott Avenue, Chicago) with a visitation at 10am and a Funeral Mass at 11am.
