Walter M. Flechsig, Age:90

Walter M. Flechsig, of Chicago, age 90, passed away on April 4, 2023. He was the loving husband of Stephania, father of Rolf (Adele), the late Kurt, and Mark (Erika), and grandfather of Leah and Audrey, Nicola Pasquini, Antonia (Dominic Certo) Pasquini, Reagan Tracy, and Ella Tracy.
 
Walter was a music teacher at Main South High School for 32 years, from 1956 to 1988. During his time there, he took students to Germany, where they performed choral concerts and learned about the country's rich musical traditions. Walter also conducted two choirs, the Schubert Lira and the Schiller Liedertafel, and he formed his own band, the Walter Flechsig Band until 2019 at 86 years of age. His band played at weddings, anniversaries, German clubs, picnics, and festivals throughout Chicagoland.
 
In addition to his love of music, Walter was devoted to his family. He taught his grandchildren to play the piano. Walter was always the first in line for food at family parties, as he loved to eat. He had a contagious smile that brightened the room wherever he went.
 
Memorial Visitation will be held at 10am on Friday, April 14th at Olson Burke/Sullivan Funeral and Cremation Center located at 6471 N. Northwest Highway Chicago, IL 60630. Memorial Service will begin at 12:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St Jude Children’s Hospital in memory of Walter Flechsig.
