June 11, 1926 -- February 26, 2023

Virginia Bane , Age:96

Virginia “Cha” Bane, 96, passed peacefully on February 26, 2023.

Virginia was born to Joseph and Vita (nee Fasulo) Fontanetta on June 11, 1926, in Chicago.  She was raised with her three siblings and spent her youth in the DePaul area.  She met Charles Miceli through the neighborhood, and they fell in love and married in April 1953.  They would have two children, Debra, and Charles Jr.  They lived in the DePaul area then moved to the Cragin neighborhood before they finally settled on the northwest side of Chicago.

Sometime after Charles untimely passing in January 1987, Virginia connected with a childhood friend, Mario Bane.  They fell in love and married in 1990.

Virginia loved to cook and bake.  She shared her ‘homemade goodies’ with her family and friends, a special way she showed her love for them.  She enjoyed working in her garden, whether flowers or vegetables, she had a green thumb.  Many might not know but she had other “hobbies”.  She loved to dance, especially Ballroom Dancing.  Playing cards with friends and family was a big pastime at gatherings.  Poker was her game of choice, so it goes without saying that she loved going to the casinos in her later years.

Both of her loving husbands, Charles Miceli, Sr., and Mario Bane predeceased her along with her parents, her brothers Frank (late Josephine) and Leo (Sue) Fontanetta, sister in laws Bernice Fontanetta and Ann Lipinski, and brother in laws Philip (late Elsie) Miceli, and Joseph (late Eva) Miceli.  She is survived by her loving sister Jacqueline “Doll” (late Albert) Krukowski.

Virginia is survived by her caring children, Debra M. (late Salvatore) Campus and Charles (Gail) Miceli, Jr.   Adoring Grandma of Salvatore (Jessie) Campus, Joseph (Christina) Campus, Charles (Tanya Hernandez) Campus and Lauren Miceli; cherished Great Grandma Cha to Mia Bella, Rocco, Nico Campus and Caden Miceli.  She was also a cherished aunt to her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Virginia lived a long and gratifying life, and she will be missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, April 23, 2023, at Olson Burke-Sullivan and Funeral Cremation Center, 6467 N Northwest Hwy., Chicago, IL 60631, from 11am to 1:30pm with a service to follow.  In lieu of flowers, family asks that you consider a donation in her name to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital.
