Pasek, Mary Joanna, of Evanston, passed away peacefully at home on February 03, 2023, after a long, fulfilled life.  Joann, as fondly known to family and friends, was born in Kokomo, Indiana, on October 10, 1931, the daughter of the late John and Mary (Covington) Garr.  She moved to exciting Chicago in the early 1950's where she met and married her husband, Ralph "Bud" Pasek, who preceded her in death.

 Joann and Bud briefly resided in Oak Park then headed to Minneapolis, where they first raised their two children, enjoying life in Edina and many visits to nearby Lake Harriet and further north to Gull Lake.  They returned their family to Chicago in 1970, settling in Winnetka, where they lived for 40 years.  They moved to Evanston, to remain close to family. 

She is survived by her loving children, Laura (Kevin) McCaughey of Evanston, and Glenn (Jennifer) P asek of Evanston; grandchildren, Samantha Pasek, Oliver Pasek, Kevin "Kip" (Catherine Nelson) McCaughey, Peter (Tatiana) McCaughey, Caroline McCaughey (Olivier) McNicoll, Virginia McCaughey (Michael Faikes), and great-grandson, Ronin McCaughey.  She is also survived by her brother, Robert (Carla) Garr, and sisters, Janet Palmer and Carolyn (Vince) Panepinto; her sister, Barbara Yochem, preceded her in death.

 Cherished by her family, she will be long remembered for her devotion to them, quiet strength, and quick sense of humor.  Her fondness for books, a good house sale, all things British, holiday celebrations, and Sunday dinners will carry on.  Her family is grateful for her life and love.  A private celebration of life will be held.
