Amalia Enriquez, born June 29, 1944, died March 27, 2021. Amalia Enriquez courageously fought a chronic debilitating disease
over the past fifteen years. Amalia was a loyal wife of Mario Torres for over fifty-four years, with three children Mario Torres (Edith), Leticia Fink (Andrew) and Leo Torres. Amalia has four grandchildren, Giulianna, Diana, Karla, and Andrew and two sisters in Mexico, Refugio Enriquez and Juana Enriquez and many nieces and nephews and extended family.
Amalia was a kind, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt who loved spending time with her family and extended family. She especially loved the holidays where she would cook her traditional Mexican cuisine that the family enjoyed eating, often on her patio in Northwest Chicago.
Amalia also enjoyed various crafts, knitting, and having plants in her home. She had natural talent for growing plants. Amalia also loved the outdoors, often going to the Chicago Marathon to cheer on her sons who frequently completed the Chicago marathon. Amalia loved to take walks with her husband. Both Amalia and Mario were inseparable. They had a special and tight bond.
Amalia loved to travel going to her native Mexico as often as she could to visit with her sisters and see her extended family. Amalia also enjoyed her travels to Europe, enjoying the sites of Portugal, Italy, Spain, and France where she and her husband traveled with their youngest son Leo.
Amalia also enjoyed going to various ballet recitals, and school events for their grandchildren. Amalia was known as a kind gentle person who truly loved her family, extended family and friends of her family and will be sorely missed.
