Lynn Whitehurst of Wilmette, Illinois passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 7, 2024. She was 85 years old. Lynn was born in Evanston, IL the daughter of the late Mr. And Mrs. Carl Griggs, Jr.

Lynn graduated from New Trier High School in 1956, and Northwestern University in 1965 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She did additional postgraduate work in psychology, and worked as a consultant presenting seminars using transactional analysis to provide leadership for women in business. Lynn also completed paralegal training from the University of San Diego in 1991 and worked for several years in California. Later in life, as an accomplished chef, she worked at several locations on the west coast including Death Valley CA, Paradise Inn on Mt. Rainier in Washington state, and Denali in Alaska. Lynn also owned a restaurant on Vancouver Island, BC before returning to the Chicago area and was personal chef for Scottie Pippen of the Chicago Bulls.

Lynn was a passionate lover of nature and could be frequently found walking around Geneva Lake. She loved writing poetry and attending Catholic Mass.

Lynn is survived by her daughter Jean Dotson of Palatine and Jon Whitehurst of St. Charles in addition to 4 grandchildren. Her siblings include Dotsy Roarty of Ocean City MD, John Wilbern of Pittsburg PA and Susan Hronec of Mars PA. Tom Wilbern predeceased her.

Visitation and Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2515 Palatine Road, Inverness, IL 60067 on December 16 at 9:30 am. Interment will be held Saturday, December 21st at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lake Geneva, WI.
