Michael `Mike` Sterling Alexander, Age:82

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Michael Sterling “Mike” Alexander of Madison, WI on July 29, 2024 at the age of 82.  He will be lovingly remembered by his son, Michael Jr., daughter-in-law Ewa, grandchildren: Tommy and Colette, brothers Patrick (the late Jan) and Gregory (Kim), the many nieces and nephews to whom he was an uncle, as well as numerous relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife and partner of 36 years, Sharon (nee Murray) and his parents, Sterling and Marianne (nee Dieker). A longtime resident of Park Ridge, Mike was born in Atlanta, GA on March 10, 1942.  His family moved to the Chicago area when he was very young.  He was proud of his work in the financial and banking industries, and he was a devout Catholic and patriotic veteran of the U.S. Army who served in Korea.  His family and friends, especially his grandchildren, were the light of his life, and he loved to talk about them with great pride to anyone who would listen.  He was an avid sports enthusiast who also enjoyed talking and learning about both new and vintage automobiles from his younger days. Additionally, he loved music and dancing.  He and Sharon were both excellent dancers who dazzled their classmates and won trophies at their high school reunions. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 8 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Olson Burke Sullivan Funeral & Cremation Center, 6467 N. Northwest Highway in Chicago.  A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, August 9 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church, 320 S. Washington Street in Park Ridge. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made to St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church or to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
