Peter J. Zervas, 85, of Mount Prospect, Illinois passed away on Friday, October 15, 2021. Pete was born December 6th, 1935 in Romiri, Greece and came to the United States at the age of 21.

Pete was the butcher and owner of Columbus Meat Market and G&J Meats in Chicago for 15 years. Pete then went into partnership with his brother George to own a restaurant called Winemakers in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. After Pete retired, he worked as a greeter at Binny’s Beverage Depot and was known as “Pete the Greek “.

Pete was a kind, compassionate and outgoing person who loved having a glass of ouzo after a days work. Pete was also known for his boastful comments such as "get the hell out of here”.

Pete is survived by his children, his son John (Marianthe) Zervas and his daughter, Kaliopi (late Gary) Schmidt; their mother, Zoe; his five grandchildren Panagiotis Zervas, Pavlos Zervas, Samantha Schmidt, James Schmidt, Anastasia Schmidt; his two brothers, George (Nitsa) Zervas, Nick Zervas; his three sisters, Georgia (George) Fitsalos, Eleni (Nick) Karabatsos, Athanasia (Stavros) Mihalopoulos; his sister-in-law, Martha Zervas and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Ridgewood Cemetery, Chapel of St. Lazarus, (9900 N. Milwaukee Ave.; DesPlaines, Il. 60016--phone: 847-824-4145) on Wednesday, October 20 from 10 am to 11 am. Services will follow at 11 am with interment on cemetery grounds.
