Glorianne `Gee Gee` Eiss, Age:90

Glorianne “Gee Gee” Eiss lived a full and wonderful life, peacefully passing away on April 1, 2022 at the age of 90.

She was born to George and Anne Sibold on December 29, 1931 in Glen Rock, NJ. The baby of her family, Glorianne had three older siblings who have previously departed, Walter Powers, Edward Powers, and Ruth Stubba. A life long animal lover, she raised collies as a teenager before attending Bucknell College.

After college, Gee Gee became a stewardess for American Airlines based out of LaGuardia. She was part of the crew who flew the first non-stop flight from New York City to Los Angeles. It was on a layover in Buffalo, NY where she met her husband Herbert “Bud” Eiss at The Runway Inn.

Glorianne and Bud were married in 1955 and remained dedicated to each other for 60 years, until Bud’s passing in 2015. As a couple they won the game show Super Market Sweep and traveled to Germany, Hawaii, and Alaska among other destinations. They are survived by their four children Deborah (Michael) Kelliher, Russell (Kathy) Eiss, Wayne Eiss, and Deanna Eiss. Glorianne taught her children many things, including the best way to spend Sundays - singing at church followed by watching football. As a family they lived in New Jersey and upstate New York before moving to Florida.

Known as Oma to her five grandchildren, Maeve Kelliher, Max Eiss, Treyvon Love, Hunter Eiss, and Natalya Crawford, she spoiled them with backrubs, the cherries out of her manhattans, and sneaking snacks into movie theaters.

Visitation will be held at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Park Ridge, IL on May 7, 2022 from 11 am until noon. A noon service for family and friends will take place following the visitation.

My deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Kathy. She was an exemplary mother to her two sons. I had never met a mother more loving and supportive of her son’s endeavors. May she Rest In Peace and her love live on in her family and friends.

I am very sad to hear this news. I attended grade school with Kathy. There were many nights that I spent the night at the Kalesperis home with Kathy and Caroline to attend after school activities as my father worked a lot and we lived in Roseland Chicago area. I was in Camp Fire Girls, and Cheerleading with Kathy in grade school. Although we attended different high schools, we kept in touch and saw each other at the St Connies basketball games. That was our life. We kistwned to the Partridge Family album at my house and loved to watch Zoom, a childrens tv program. Just thinking of these times brings a smile to my face. We also attended the Bozo show together. You will be missed. We both share the love of ballet and took lessons. I hope you are no longer suffering and out of pain. Till I see you again my grade school friend. Ellen Bollas

When Kathy was in High School she belonged to the Maids of Athena Delphi #78 and I was the advisor for the young ladies. There where 10 chapters in the chicagoland area. They raised money for the poor, donated to Children Hospital for many Philanthropic purposes. They met with other Maid Chapters and the Sons of Pericles and played basketball, volleyball and went on Skis trips. A great group of teenagers. Ζοι σε μας May her memory be eternal. Nicki McDonald

Though we pass through the valley, we have nothing to fear. For you are with us. Nothing, not even death, can seperate us from your love. Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. Kathy and I went to school from kindergarten through 8th grade. I will always remember Kathy as a sweet and kind person.

Sending so much love to the family and to everyone else in Kathy’s life. One of the kindest and funniest souls. I owe so much to Kathy and the relationships she helped me build and the opportunities that came from our friendship. Thank you for taking a chance on me and the work I do. Thanks for meeting me in a tiny little rental space up north and letting me take Austin’s pics for the first time. The first of many. Rest easy 🩰 💜

My friend and beautiful soul sister that I will miss everyday. She was a rock for so many of us. We met with our kids auditioning for MT BFA. We were the only Greeks who had kids at that time auditioning and found each other . Didn’t know each other for that long but we felt that connection. We gave each other support, strength and hope to our kids when they needed it most. We were their cheerleaders and believe they could do anything they put their minds to do. She was one of a kind. I am still in shock that she is gone 🙏 and so heart broken for her loss. She will be forever in my heart and prayers go out to her husband and boys. May her memory be eternal .
