Hugh Patrick Bannon, 90, was born in Chicago, IL. He graduated from Northwestern University and then lived a number of years in Massachusetts before returning to Chicago. Hugh worked for Raytheon for 48 years; ten of those years were spent traveling to Egypt, where he developed a lifelong interest in the pyramids of Giza. He enjoyed conducting research on the origins of the pyramids, oil painting, playing chess, and reading. He was also a prolific writer and self-published a book of poems. Hugh was interested in different cultures, which inspired him to travel the world and volunteer at the American Indian Center and with Peace Fires at Northeastern Illinois University.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Marie, and six siblings. He is survived by his wife Anne (née Dalton); his siblings, Eileen (Peter) Monahan and Leonard (Sandy) Bannon; his three children, Dr. Michael (Darlene) Bannon, Cheryl Scott, and Linda Bannon; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, June 25th at the Irish American Heritage Center at 4626 N. Knox Avenue, Chicago IL followed by a luncheon - please contact family for details if you would like to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Indian Center of Chicago.
