Geraldine `Gerri` C. Axium , Age: 76
February 17, 1944 -- February 09, 2021

On Tuesday, February 9, 2021, Geraldine C. Axium, nee Manzano, loving wife, mother of five, grandmother “Jarra” of eleven, and great-grandmother of one, passed away peacefully surrounded by family.
 
Gerri is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Bill; her children: Michie (Jim) Burke, Jack (Carole) Axium, Laurie (Andy) Kohl, Kate (Toby) Sipp, and Deena (Jimmy) Gibson; her grandchildren: Michael (Samantha), Steven, Megan, Ryan, Emma, Mary, Will, Joe, Abby, Colene (Kevin), and Kyle; her great grandson: Bentley; and her two fur babies, Riley and Bitsy. Gerri was preceded in death by her father, Sabino, and her mother, Lottie.
 
She was born on February 17, 1944 in Portsmouth, VA. She received her nursing degree from St. Elizabeth School of Nursing in 1964 and practiced nursing for many years. In 1965, she married Bill.
 
Gerri enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchild, and dogs.  She had an infectious laugh and loved making everyone around her laugh with her goofy facial expressions and stories.   She enjoyed traveling, the theater and movies, joining her friends for lunch, and shopping.
 
A funeral mass will be held on Friday, February 19, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at St Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish (formerly St. Tarcissus Catholic Church) at 6020 W. Ardmore Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60646. All current COVID precautions will be followed.
