Glorieta A. Gaston, Age:71

Glorieta "Glo" Gaston resident of St. Ben's/North Center neighborhood, a loving, caring and thoughtful mom, a dedicated nurse and a faithful servant of God died peacefully  August 22,2022.

 

Glorieta was born on June 16,1951 in Bacolod City, Philippines. Her parents were the late Marciano P. Araneta  and the late Felicidad T. Araneta, both owned a business. She has three sisters named Margarita, Belen and Ma.  Elena has three brothers named Edmar, Emmanuel and the late Marciano Jr.  Glo's parents migrated to the U.S. and the children soon followed.

 

Glorieta finished her elementary, high school and got a college degree in Nursing in the city of Bacolod, Philippines. She worked as a nurse in one of the biggest hospitals and a clinical instructor as well in this city. She was happily married to a good man named Danilo Gaston, a Levi's Sales & Marketing Director. They had three children named Andy, Allan Adrian, and Audrey Ann. They lived in Paranaque City, Philippines.

 

Glorieta went back to school and got a degree in accountancy. She and her husband established a garment factory and had their own business.

The Gaston family migrated to Chicago, Illinois. Again, she worked as a nurse at several hospitals (such as Norwegian American Hospital, Thorek, etc) and the children continued their schooling. Her husband died on September 15, 1999.

 

After her retirement, which she gifted to herself for her birthday in 2013, she devoted her time doing voluntary work in St. Benedict Church, St. Hilary, and St. Padre Pio in Chicago and rendered social work in the community. Her hobbies include gardening, playing scrabble (Words with Friends), and traveling. Our Divine Creator took her and brought her to his kingdom. Family, relatives, friends, and parishioners came and attended the holy mass in loving memory of Glorieta on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at her home parish, St. Benedicts.
