Joan Schrambeck , Age: 84
July 06, 1935 -- February 14, 2020

Joan (Losby) Schrambeck, age 84, of Mt. Prospect, IL, passed away peacefully at home, on Friday February 14, 2020. Cremation rites have been accorded. In line with Joan’s wishes, a private service will be held for her immediate family.

Joan was born on July 6, 1935, to her parents Harold Sr. and Harriet (Behrens) Losby. Joan married Larry Schrambeck, on June 15, 1968, in Lincolnwood, IL. She loved her children, grandchildren and her great grandchildren. Joan had several jobs in medical offices, was a Nurses Aide and then enjoyed staying home to raise her family. She loved watching the Chicago Cubs on TV and attended games with her big brother in her youth. She was a fantastic cook, and enjoyed preparing Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter dinner for her family each year when the kids were young. And we all looked forward to her gigantic pot of homemade spaghetti sauce or chop suey, while it cooked all day on the stove.  Joan was also a voracious reader and loved getting new books, refusing to go digital as she said ‘I want to turn the pages and hold the book’. She loved camping, starting off with the ‘Slide in’ pick-up truck camper (enjoying it, despite the dumping incident), the ‘Sky dome’ and then several Motorhomes once the kids were gone.  She and Larry traveled to almost every state and enjoyed their many travels together in retirement.  More recently they enjoyed their ‘movie dates’ in the evenings, watching several movies each week.

Joan will be dearly missed by her husband, Larry; 3 children- Cathie (Mike) O’Brien - Prospect Hts, IL; Garry (Kerry) Schrambeck - Lake Villa, IL; Lorri (Mike) Schmidt - Preston, IA; her grandchildren; Kevin (Angela) & Tim (Amanda) O’Brien; Katelyn (Jim) Martz, Mitchell, Harrison and Casey Schrambeck; Michaela, Alexandra, Wyatt, Ty and Sawyer Schmidt; and 9 great grandchildren; Grace, Paige, and Brooke O’Brien; Jack O’Brien; Hailey, Chelsea, Olivia, and Madeline Martz; and Luna Lawler. She will also be missed by her big brother, Harold (Shirley) Losby of Iowa City, IA.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, in-laws, and a sister-in-law and brother-in-law.
