Michael W. Koziol

December 17, 1945—November 4, 2019

Michael Koziol (AKA Papi, Daddio, Mike, Mick, Captain Mike, Uncle Michael, Uncle Mick, FIL, Granddad), 73, passed peacefully in his sleep on November 4th. Born to the late Mitchell and Jeanette Koziol, he was raised and lived most of his life in Chicago. He was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the US Army from 1965-1968. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business from the University of Illinois at Chicago. In 1970 he met the love of his life, Barbara. The couple would spend nearly the next 50 years cherishing one another. They married in 1978 and went on to build a large family, remaining steadfastly hand in hand through all of the ups and downs life sent their way. Michael dedicated 40 years to the wine and spirits industry. He had a deep appreciation for good food and drink, which he passed on to each of his children, and which he shared with all those around him at every opportunity. He never met a person in need to whom he wouldn't offer help, and is remembered by many for the friendship he provided when it was needed most. Michael lives on in his children, Jennifer Licato (Jim), Andrew Koziol, Jonathan Koziol (Juanita), Michael R. Koziol, and Carly Koziol (Sean), and his grandchildren, Sophia, Cole, Ariana, Audrey, and Emery. He is remembered with love by many nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly, as well as his one surviving brother, Bob Koziol (Gabriele), his sisters- and brothers-in-law, and multitudes of friends. In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in his journey to the next life by his brothers, Peter Koziol (Joanne), Dan Koziol (Puji), and Steve Koziol, and his grandson, Angel Koziol.
