Frank C. Weaver, Age:just shy of 93

Just 13 days shy of the 54th Anniversary of his 39th Birthday, St. Peter called Frank C. Weaver home. We’re pretty sure that he’s already regretting that decision. Dad was known for being “colorful and direct” in nature and St. Peter is now finding out the inefficiencies of his processes and how his operation should really be run. On behalf of the Weaver Family, PLEASE don’t hold this against us. If you make sure that he gets lunch by Noon sharp (12:01 PM is NOT acceptable) and have a cherry pie or chocolate cake on hand, things will go much better.

Dad was a lot of things; a perpetual student (he didn’t remember how many degrees and certificates he earned), an inventor with over 3 dozen patents , a disappointed Chicago Sports fan, a life-long Boy Scout, a proud Army Veteran, an avid gardener that overshared his bounty with the neighbors, exercise junky (spin classes in his 90’s in short shorts and swimming in his Speedo ..If you got it, flaunt it) and a world traveler. He was also a beloved (might be stretching this a wee bit) brother to 8 siblings, a devoted Husband (he’s all yours now, Mom!), a dad to two sons, and a Daddy to his Little Darling.

Although he became a Dad later on in life, that was never an issue in his involvement with his kid’s lives. A Scout Leader who would not let the summer camp canoe race title go even after his sons had left the troop, the proud father that sat in the soggy stands watching his kids on the field or in the pool, and a gatherer of manure at horse shows (REALLY Dad? “Hey that’s good stuff!”) to enrich his garden.

He enriched our lives as well and in more ways than anyone could imagine. He was the Dad that could “MacGyver” anything, that encouraged us to be our best and would help us - even if we begged him not to. It wasn’t an easy task at times as we all share his DNA (Ergo, “colorful and direct”). But he was always there for us; Father, mentor, friend, co-conspirator, bunny artist.  He was also a HORRIBLE Geometry teacher.  Like really, really bad.  There are many things that dad was not; selfish (he shared his FAVORITE chocolate covered cherries), boastful, unjust or unkind.  He was a friend to everyone and always the raconteur.  (Lenny Bruce style)

We were blessed to have him in our lives for so long, but even all those years is not enough. This is not a good bye as he will always be a part of our lives. When times are tough, we’ll heed his advice to keep smiling. And if that doesn’t work, we’ll do the special wave that he taught us and yell out …………..Happy Days!

Visitation will be on Friday, February 15 from 3 to 8 pm, with a wake service at 7 pm.  Family and Friends will be meeting at Church, Immaculate Concepcion Catholic Church, 7211 W. Talcott Rd., Chicago, for an 11:30 am Funeral Mass.  Interment All Saints Cemetery with Military Honors.
