I had the privilege of working with Shannon as part of the Chicago Botanic Garden's College First program in the summer of 2015. I very clearly remember meeting her, as she asked many thoughtful and insightful questions about the research project she was helping with. I was impressed. And I was lucky to have her working in my lab throughout the summer, as she was so thoughtful and energetic, and a truly dedicated researcher who was just a joy to work with.
