Lloyd Roger Elumbaring Aragon, Age:40

Lloyd Rodger Elumbaring Aragon died unexpectedly on May 23, 2018, in Chicago, IL, at the age of 40.

Lloyd is survived by his wife Christine Mortensen; parents Roger and Purita of Mt. Prospect, IL; siblings Lasumar and sister-in-law Geyzel of San Diego, CA, Lucille and brother-in-law Rocky Bondad of Buffalo Grove, IL, Lee of Palatine, IL; and nieces and nephews Xavier, Sarah, Rachel, Ryler, Baya, Julian, Aliyah and Victoria. He is preceded in death by nephew Lucas of Wauconda, IL.

Lloyd was born on September 12, 1977 in Queensland, Australia. He grew up in the Philippines until his family moved to Des Plaines, IL, when he was 9 and eventually to Wheeling, IL. He graduated from Wheeling High School in 1996. He attended University of Illinois at Chicago where he received a BA in Architectural Studies and went on to graduate from Columbia University in the City of New York in 2005 with a Master of Architecture degree.

On March 4th in 2008, he went on his first date with the love of his life, Christine. After dating for 2 years they moved into Christine's grandmother's home in Chicago and spent their time together working on home renovation and gardening projects. Lloyd and Christine got engaged while on a vacation in Columbia and they were happily married in July 2016. In 2017, they moved to a South Loop loft and adopted their puppy, Cassius, from the Anti-Cruelty Society. They loved going on weekend coffee dates; documented with a couple’s selfie on social media.

Lloyd began as an intern at Harding Partners and worked his way to becoming a Partner. His work has been exhibited in the Graduate School of Architecture Planning and Preservation's Gallery 400 and has been published in the journal Abstract and Autogenic Structures.

Lloyd is probably most known for the passion he had playing volleyball. He played on high-level teams in high school, college and beyond. He was a great leader, teammate and knew what it took to win.

A service is scheduled for Tuesday, May 29, 2018, from 4pm to 9pm at Olson Burke Sullivan Cremation and Funeral Services, 6471 N Northwest Hwy, Chicago, IL 60631. A pastor from Willow South Lake will offer a blessing promptly at 8pm. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Lloyd's life.
