Eugene `Gene` William Minner, Age:89

Eugene W. Minner, 89, of Evanston, passed away peacefully at Presence Saint Francis Hospital of Evanston on January 2, 2018.

Eugene was born on October 21, 1928 in Queens, New York to Fred and Barbara Minner. He was a graduate of Bishop Loughlin High School, Brooklyn, New York. He is survived by his daughter Gabrielle Minner Lawson and son-in-law Paul Lawson, as well as nieces/nephews Barbara Jean Decker, Michael

Decker, Karen Wohltman, Alexandra Minner, Eric Minner, Karl Minner. He was predeceased by his son, David; his brother, Arthur and his sister, Gladys Decker.

Eugene was born in Queens, New York and raised in Brooklyn, New York. In the 60s and 70s by avocation he was a ballet dancer in New York City and New Jersey where he taught and danced with various ballet companies. At the same time he worked as an electron microscopist in the research labs of Rockefeller University and Bellevue Hospital in New York. In the 70s, he moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan where he taught electron microscopy at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. In the 80s, he moved to Evanston where he taught electron microscopy at Northwestern University until his retirement.

Self-taught he played the piano for recreation and enjoyed being involved as an actor in several community theatrical groups including “The Savoyaires”, performing in

numerous plays with them.
