Robert James Stockton, age 62, was a native of Los Angeles and moved to Chicago in the late 1980s. Some of his happiest times were spent in Washington state and Hawaii. He served in the United States Army with enthusiasm and especially enjoyed his time in Germany. He was a union carpenter (Local 181), handy at plumbing, and helpful with various "dirt projects." Robert was a man with a quick wit and wealth of knowledge. He was a voracious reader of many genres and even read War and Peace twice. He bet on horse races, rooted for the Raiders, and cheered for the Chicago Cubs and White Sox. Robert liked to throw dice and was a formidable opponent at cribbage and backgammon, always up for "shooting a game" (and usually winning). He also liked wolves, westerns, and watching Jeopardy. Robert left an impression on every person he met. He is missed by family and friends. May he rest well and in peace. There will be a celebration of life Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Basilico Ristorante, 4701 N. Cumberland Ave., Norridge, IL 60706 from 1:00 p.m. -4:00 p.m. with prayers at 1:15 p.m.
