Carolyn Ann Rose, 70, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 22, 2017, surrounded by loved ones.  Carolyn was born in Chicago, IL on December 6, 1946, daughter of the late Edward G. and Goldie A. (Wahlin) Rohrman. She attended Luther North High School and West Suburban School of Nursing, where she graduated in 1967.  She went on to complete her Bachelor’s degree in nursing and Master’s degree in nursing administration from Northern Michigan University. She dedicated 48 years to a career of nursing, working for the Dickinson County Memorial Hospital, Garrett Eye Center, and ultimately the Veteran’s Administration Hospital where she retired in 2015. 

Carolyn married Roger D. Rose of Cornell, MI on September 23, 1967 at the Addison Street Baptist Church near Wrigley Field in Chicago. Roger and Carolyn purchased the Hillcrest Motel in Quinnesec, MI in 1972, which became the home in which they raised their three children.  She was a proud and loving mother to daughter, Dawn (Doug); son David (Heather); and son Gary (Caroline), all of Illinois. She adored her six grandchildren: Scott, Annika, Kristin, Andrew, Katie, and Matthew. Carolyn was a lifelong Cubs fan; an accomplished hand at sewing, embroidery and quilting; an avid reader and traveler; and an active member of the First Covenant Church.  Her warm smile, keen attention to detail, and generous servant’s heart made a difference for patients, friends, and family throughout her life.

Visitation is scheduled to begin at 10am on Thursday, April 27^th at the First Covenant Church at 125 East H Street in Iron Mountain, MI, with a memorial service at 11 am officiated by Rev. Peter Erickson.  A light luncheon will follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations are made in Carolyn’s memory to either the Butterfly Wish Program at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center, 325 East H Street, Iron Mountain, MI 49801 or the Mission Bible Training Center, P.O. Box 248, Gaastra, MI 49927.
