Barbara was born in Kansas City, MO to Marjorie and Clayton Herrick. Clayton worked as an industrial salesman. Marj was a social worker and the two of them served others throughout their lives. She assumed leadership roles in the many organizations that she joined: Athletic Club, Girls Cabinet, Kappa Alpha Theta sorority President, Founder and Director of Glenview Methodist Pre-School, Director of Career Development Program at Loyola University Chicago, Stephen Ministry Leader for the First Presbyterian Church in Warren, OH, and as a consultant and facilitator of a weekly job club. They then returned to Glenview, IL where they had their daugher, Susan, and later in Northbrook had their son David. All three children live in the north shore area of Chicago, are married, and are parents of the 7 grandchildren in whom Barbara took great delight.  Barbara married Dr. Phil Hill and moved to Warren, OH and then Frankfort, MI. Barbara later moved to Evanston, IL. Her main love and interest was her family.

Recreationally, Barbara enjoyed tennis, golf, and pilates and completed the 3-day Avon Breast Cancer Walk with daughter Suzy and daughter-in-law Diane at age 63. She loved music and sang in many church choirs.

Barbara graduated from DePauw University with a BA in Psychology and Education, and from Northeastern Illinois University with an MA in Vocational Counseling. She was a member of Lake Street Church since 2001 and was very active in Satsang/Meditation group, women's groups, and programs on Poverty in America. Barbara loved traveling to Crystal Lake, MI every year, Book Club, the Botanic Garden, Art Institute, Music of the Baroque, and the Symphony. Family Friend Evanston , Illinois

Dear Suzy, Steve & David, I wanted to let you know how sorry I am about your Mother. I have so many fond memories of her, and our family times together, way back when. Your Mother was such a vibrant, interesting, fun, sweet person. She lit up a room, and always was a positive influence. You are all in my thoughts and prayers, and I will hold all the memories close to my heart. I am sorry I will miss the service, as I will be out of town, but please know that I will be there in spirit. Your Mother was so special to me , my Mother and so many. She will always be remembered fondly. Thinking of all of you, and sending you love and support. Kathy
