Verne D. Wetherholt III, age 55, of Aurora, IL, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, June 15, 2010. He was born in aurora, March 18, 1955, son of Siegelinde and Verne D Wetherholt Jr. He graduated from West aurora High School in 1973. In 1977, he graduated from Lincoln Christian College with a triple degree and then attended seminary, studying pastoral care and counseling. Verne married the love of his life, Karen Santo on August 13, 1977, and they had 3 wonderful daughters together. Longtime member of Chicago Church of Christ, having earned the title Teacher, he taught college level classes to the church staff and congregation. He also enjoyed serving as a youth minister in various locations. His Lord, family and church family were the most inportant things to him. Verne did just about everything in life a man could do, enjoying all it has to offer. His friends have always said he's tried everything except ballet. He spoke seven languages, being fluent in German. He was a licensed pilot, scuba diving and martial arts instructor, voted one of the best game masters; and jokingly, was an "official card carrying member of the Handyman Club of America." He worked for Tandem, Compaq and Hewlett-Packard as a Systems Technology Instructor. Survived by his loving wife, Karen'three daughters he adored, Kristin, Amber and Heather; mogher, Siegelinde Johnson of Tennessee; brother, Paul of Tennessee; Aunt Delores of Aurora; nephew, Jason of Champaigh; and numerous extended family. Preceded in death by his father, Verne Jr; brother Chuck; and maternal and paternal grandparents. A Memorial Serice will be held Monday, June 21, 2010 from 7:00-9:00pm in the auditorium at Wheaton-Warrenville South High School, 1993 Tiger Trail, Wheaton, IL.
