John R. Dierkes, 80, formerly of Johnston City, died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012. He was born Sept. 29, 1931, in Quincy. He was a veteran of the Army and served in the Korean War. He was the loving husband of the late Gloria (nee: Panega) and Margaret (nee: Sadowski) of Glenwood, caring father of Nancy (James) McGraw of San Antonio, Texas, Kurt (Courtney) of Marion, Mary Beth of Orland Park, Diane (Michael) Barnes of Murrieta, Calif.; fond stepfather of David Mack of Glenwood, Lynne (Jeffrey) Panega of Crete; brother of Alfred (Kay Frances) of Quincy, James of Foster City, Calif., Mary Cary of Quincy; grandfather of eight. Memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012, at St. Kieran's Catholic Church, 724 195th St., Chicago Heights.
