Palmira Carlo

Palmira Carlo After 104 years of an amazing life, a beautiful, smart, vivacious lady has moved off our planet. Palmira Carlo (nee Fernandez) died peacefully on May 18th surrounded by her loving daughters at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, Illinois. Born in Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico, January 26, 1908, she emigrated to New York City in 1928. There she met and married Armando Carlo in 1931 and together had four children. The family moved to Chicago in 1949, where she and Armando were active in the lives of their children, church, community and the Lions International Club of Wicker Park. Among her many creative talents were a love of singing and poetry--her beautiful voice and amazing memory remaining acute throughout her long life. Widowed in 1982, she leaves three daughters: Nilda Iris, Ana Rose (Benson) and Vivian Dalila. Son, Armando Jr, preceded her in death in 1991. Lauderdale, 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, numerous relatives and countless friends mourn her passing. She is missed and will be missed on this and every day.
